You can never be too prepared. This especially rings true with construction projects. A poorly executed project can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and even legal issues in the end.
Starting a construction project can be daunting. There are so many steps to take before driving the first nail. Because of required permits, licenses, government regulations, legal precautions, materials, engineering requirements, dimensions, and countless other factors, it is often difficult to get the ball rolling.
It is best to slow down and consider the big picture before tackling small details.
Government regulations
Gone are the days when you could buy a piece of land and build without anybody bothering you. Today, there are legal procedures that can be followed to ensure you stay within mandatory codes throughout the building process.
One of the first considerations will be the purpose of the building. It is essential to know and understand building use. Every detail regarding unique purpose ie. truck storage, chemical storage, explosives, or anything else requiring specific government code and/or regulation must be addressed.
With complete and accurate information in hand, we research all building codes and regulations to ensure compliance.
The Big Picture
Clients choose Reinhart because they believe we have the team to help achieve their vision. Seeing this through involves collecting all essential information regarding the project. We go over building design, layout, dimensions, ambiance, exterior design, landscaping, and all the small details necessary to meet the vision. Throughout the process, we are always reviewing to ensure we are on the same page as our client.
Shop space
Shop space is where a good part of the action takes place after the building is complete, so we make sure every need is met by confirming all details. For example, if you require an air compressor, we install conduits in the concrete and plugs on outside walls insuring proper voltage as it relates to the size of the compressor.
Heating, ventilation, lighting, and plumbing must be addressed. It is easier and far more cost efficient to complete these accurately during construction than it is to come back later and tear down walls to accommodate a fix.
Exterior space
Exterior space is as important as the interior and should be treated as such. Do you need landscaping, railway access, storage, fences, yard lights, or security? Again, it is easier and costs less to ensure all exterior requirements are met initially to avoid major changes after construction is complete.
Always remember
Remember; communication is key. Ongoing communication during every step of the project will ensure all present and future needs are met.
